Striker Mileta Rajovic has signed for Watford on a five-year contract.

The Danish 24-year-old joins from Kalmar, who play in the Allsvenskan, the top tier of Swedish football.

Although the fee is undisclosed, the Watford Observer understands it is around the £1m mark.

Rajovic was at London Colney yesterday to complete the formalities, and has been given the No.9 shirt.

The forward is match fit as he joins in the middle of the Swedish league season and has been a regular starter for Kalmar.

He signed for them in December 2022 for what was said to be a club record fee, having come to their attention after bagging 30 goals in 58 appearances for Danish First Division side Naestved.

Rajovic has scored 12 times in 24 league and cup outings for Kalmar, starting for them as recently as last Sunday (August 20), in their 0-0 draw with Hammarby.

The striker really did hit the ground running when he moved to Sweden, netting 10 times in his first 10 games for Kalmar, including a hat-trick in a 4-1 Svenska Cupen tie win over Helsingborgs.

League goals have dried up a bit more recently though for Rajovic, and he hasn’t scored in his last 10 games in the Allsvenskan – but he did net for Kalmar in the second leg of their Europa Conference League qualifying tie with FC Pyunik of Armenia on August 3, which they lost 4-2 on aggregate.

He began his career in the youth set-up at Brondby, before moving to Randers and B.93 in his home country.

His break into senior football came with Danish second division side Roskilde, where he netted 11 times in 31 appearances which earned him his move to Naestved.

Although born in Denmark, Rajovic is also qualified to play for Montenegro via his family.

The signing was completed in time for the striker to be considered for Sunday’s game with Blackburn at Vicarage Road.
