Watford Ladies wrapped up the season in style with some fine performances over the weekend that included a couple of impressive league wins and another trophy.
The first team came from behind to beat high-flying Brentford 3-2 in their final league game, a victory which moved them up to fifth in the table.
In an enthralling contest at Bovingdon FC, the home side started positively with great chances for Rebecca Lovelace and Lily Hall.
The early pressure paid off as Lovelace finished a flowing move out from defence to put Watford ahead, but Brentford struck back with two goals in seven minutes to put them 2-1 up at the break.
Watford kept fighting, and after Hall and Lovelace both saw efforts hit the post, substitute Lola Meyer found the net to level the game.
Five minutes later Natalie Cloy, also just off the bench, sealed the points after the keeper failed to deal with her shot.
The Under-15 Warriors meanwhile produced a powerful display of attacking football to win the Hertfordshire County Cup against Hitchin Belles.
Playing in front of more than 200 supporters at the County Ground in Letchworth, Amy Moynihan got the ball rolling as she fired Watford in front after seven minutes.
Marcia Itani made it 2-0 following a superb assist by player of the match Alexia Lopes.
Goals from Eva Delaney, Skye San Juan, Ella Weaver and Molly Sherrin followed to give the Warriors a commanding half-time lead.
Hitchin battled hard but it was Watford’s day as Chloe Bright scored and Weaver claimed her second to crown a memorable 8-0 victory.
Fellow County Cup winners the Under-18 Warriors rounded off their Junior Premier League season with an entertaining 6-2 victory over Worthing Town that featured six different scorers.
Watford were 2-0 up at half time thanks to Charlotte Forster and a long shot from Summer Small, but goals from Worthing, either side of Maria Toledo’s finish, brought them back into the game with the score at 3-2.
With five minutes to go Olivia Gilbert’s strike settled home nerves though, and two more quick-fire goals from captain Jessie Poulter and Maya Shah sealed a deserved win.
