There could be as many as 2,000 Watford fans at Stadium MK on Saturday afternoon as the Hornets attempt to secure promotion back to the Barclays Women’s Championship.
The Golden Girls – who won the Southern Premier Division – face Northern Premier Division winners Nottingham Forest for the one promotion place up for grabs.
Watford have sold around 1,000 tickets already for the game which kicks off at 1pm, and they believe that number could double this week.
The very reasonable ticket pricing is helping: it’s only £5 for adults, £2.50 for Under-16s and Over-65s, while Under-10s can attend for free.
The game is a re-run of the FA Women’s National League Cup Final last month, which Forest won 3-2.
Tickets are available to purchase from MK Dons’ website by clicking here.
Watford won their division on a dramatic final day – they travelled to Billericay and won 3-0 while previous league leaders Oxford United were beaten 1-0 at Ipswich.
The Golden Girls consequently topped the table on goal difference from Ipswich, with Oxford finishing third.
Last season was a heart-breaking one for Watford Women as they were relegated from the Championship on the last day of the season - a goal deep into stoppage time for Coventry saw them win 1-0 and stay up while condemning Watford to the drop at the same time.
Whatever happens on Saturday it will be an emotional day for legendary Watford and Wales striker Helen Ward, who announced earlier in the season that she would retire when the campaign came to an end.
She spoke to the Watford Observer shortly after that announcement, and talked about her decision, her career in football and what comes next for her. You can read the two-part interview by clicking here for part one, and then here for part two.
