Watford Ladies Under-14 Harts produced a superb performance to secure a convincing 5-0 League Cup semi-final victory over Hitchin Belles Youth Under-14 Reds that sees them join the five other teams from the club to have reached finals so far this season.
The game started at a high tempo with Watford creating many chances but failing to find that finishing touch.
Hitchin were giving as good as they got and created opportunities of their own on the counter, but with no breakthrough for either team the game was goalless at half time.
The home side came out strongly again after the break and were rewarded for their pressure when Chloe Ithier intercepted a pass by a Hitchin defender and ran onto goal. Her shot was saved but the rebound fell to Katie Garvin who finished to make it 1-0.
The game continued to ebb and flow but Watford got their second when the ball fell to Faezeh Pilvar on the edge of the box. She quickly cut it back to Charlotte North who coolly slotted it into the bottom corner.
After this the floodgates opened. Within two minutes it was goal number three as a Hitchin clearance fell to Saffron Patel, who’s lofted long-range shot beat the goalkeeper to put Watford firmly in command. Then Maggie Cooke superbly controlled a Garvin corner and blasted the ball past the keeper for her side’s fourth.
As the game neared the end Sara Jetha’s corner was flicked on by Cooke for North to get her second and send the Harts into their first cup final.
The Under-18 Hornets and Under-16 Hornets have also reached their respective League Cup finals. The Under-14 and Under-15 Warriors are both Hertfordshire County Cup finalists, while the Under-18 Warriors have already won the inaugural County Cup in that age group.
The club will be holding trials from May 22. For details on how to apply visit: www.watfordladiesfc.com
