Premier Division
FC Unicorn warmed up for this weekend's Watford Sunday League President’s Cup Final against St Josephs with a 2-1 win over Cassiobury Rangers on Wednesday evening.
The three points moved Unicorn above Rangers and up to fourth place in the table.
Unicorn won the game thanks to two goals in the first half.
The first came from Sam Hutchings after the Rangers keeper spilled the ball into his path for a simple tap in.
The second goal followed when Danny Warwick profited from a defensive error for a clear run in on goal and he made no mistake with an effort into the bottom left-hand corner.
Rangers battled back into the game after the break and pulled a goal back when Jamie McDougall crossed to the back post, picking out Jon Burch, who took it round a defender and coolly slotted into the bottom right corner.
Division Two
Glenn SCC did what was required of them, as they attempt to overhaul leaders The Cross, defeating fourth-placed Dunnings Bar 4-0.
Two goals from Chris Blunden and one each for Lewis Putman and Sam Clark means the gap between The Cross and Glenn is now down to 12 points, but Glenn have five games in hand.
St Josephs Reserves gained a fourth win of the season with a 3-1 victory over CF Fajeczka to give them at least a fighting chance of avoiding the bottom two.
Goals from Luke Broad, Robbie Tocher and Dillon Hemmington sealed the win, with Joseph Belloni replying for Fajeczka who needed the points themselves to keep their title ambitions alive.
