Some of the leading bowlers in the country showcased their talented when they competed over two days at the County Championships at Watford Indoor Bowls Club.
Some outstanding bowls was played on the Woodside rinks, and the most successful were the players from Riverain, who carried all before them.
All 16 players from the Hitchin club who will contest the ‘FA Cup of bowls’ - The Denny Final - took part.
The standout performance was by Stevenage's Tony Webb who made history by becoming the first man to win the Singles, Pairs, Triples and Fours in the same year.
Meanwhile, Sam Andrews, aged 17 and a national finalist this year, beat 12-year-old Matthew Murphy in a great Under-25 final.
There was some resistance from the host club, particularly in the Men's Fours, which was decided by one shot: a front toucher from Bradley Prowle on the final end.
Other notable winners were: S. Allen, K. Dear J. Allen and Nick Muir in the Mixed Fours; P. Andrews, B. Prowle and T. Webb in the Triples; M. Mckinnan, M. Hazeldean and L. Sabbetini in the Mixed Triples. Helen Stapleford and P Andrews won the Mixed Pairs, Webb and Prowle took the Men’s Pairs and Webb beat the very talented Glen Williams in the Men's Singles.
