Striker Vakoun Bayo has apologised for his somewhat moody reaction to being substituted against Blackpool at Vicarage Road on Saturday.
The Ivorian made way for Tobi Adeyemo in the 68th minute, a switch that head coach Slaven Bilic revealed after the game had been planned in advance as Bayo had been struggling to be fit to play.
When his number came up on the fourth official’s board, Bayo made a very slow trudge towards the touchline, and some Watford fans voiced their disapproval.
“I just want to say sorry to the fans, who have been so supportive of me and the team,” he told watfordfc.com.

“I got lost in my own disappointment for a few seconds when it was time for me to come off the pitch – and I wasn’t thinking about the team.
“The most important thing was the three points, and I was so delighted for Tobi Adeyemo to come on and score on his debut.
“It was a fantastic moment, and so important to help us get the three points.”
Bilić told the media after the victory over the Seasiders that he’d always planned to bring off Bayo after the game passed the hour mark.
The 26-year-old had been working with the medical team to ensure he was fit to start after he’d felt stiffness in his hamstring after the game at Carrow Road.
“Bayo was struggling for fitness after Norwich, so him coming off was planned,” Watford’s Head Coach told the media.
“He didn’t train the whole week with the team before Blackpool – only a few days.”
Bayo was only denied giving the Hornets the lead on Saturday by the legs of the Blackpool keeper, and said his disappointment got the better of him.
“As a striker, I want to score goals and was disappointed that I did not do that on Saturday, especially after scoring at Norwich and feeling confident,” said Bayo.
“But I’m hungry for the next opportunity, and looking forward to helping the team against Rotherham.”
