Watford came from behind twice as Keinan Davis’ double helped them beat Arsenal 4-2 at the North London club’s training headquarters this afternoon.

It was a game in which both side made numerous substitutions: Joao Pedro was the only player to play the full 90 minutes for the Hornets, while the Gunners changed all 10 outfield players at half-time.

However, Arsenal’s starting team included the likes of Martin Odegaard, Kieran Tierney, Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel.

Daniel Bachmann made a couple of good early saves to deny Mohamed Elneny and Tierney, before Nketiah was inches away from scoring after his initial shot had been blocked.

Sambi Lokonga hit the post in the 25th minute before Arsenal went in front three minutes later, Cedric’s cross cleared as far as Marquinhos who drilled a shot into the far corner.

Watford levelled in the 35th minute when Pedro’s through-ball saw Davis burst into the box and steer a path around keeper Karl Hein to slot into the net.

However Arsenal were back in front three minutes later as Tierney crossed for Nketiah to send a downwards header past Bachmann.

The Gunners replaced their outfield players with Under-21s during the break but had the first chance after half time when Taylor Foran’s header from a corner hit the post.

Watford’s second equaliser came after 50 minutes when Joseph Hungbo’s free-kick was headed home by Davis.

Pedro was the creator as Watford went ahead for the first time nine minutes later, leaving a number of red shirts in his wake on a 30-yard run before laying the ball off the Yaser Asprilla. The young Colombian checked onto his left foot before smashing a shot into the top corner.

Arsenal had brought on young Polish keeper Hubert Graczyk by then, and he kept the Gunners in the game with two saves from Hungbo and another to deny Pedro.

However, the Brazilian had the final word in the 77th minute, ghosting between two defenders and flicking the ball past Graczyk with the aid of a deflection to make it 4-2.

Jeremy Ngakia, who spoke exclusively to the Watford Observer this week, played the first hour while Tom Dele-Bashiru came on at half-time and 17-year-old Adrian Blake played the last 20 minutes.
