The referee who sent off four players in Sheffield United’s fiery 3-3 draw with Blackpool on Saturday is set to take charge of Watford’s trip to Millwall on Wednesday night.
David Webb reduced the Seasiders to nine men after Marvin Ekpiteta and Dominic Thompson were dismissed for second yellow cards in the latter stages of the second half at Bramall Lane, and then also sent off Shayne Lavery and Blades keeper Wes Foderingham after full-time following a mass bust-up.
Those were the first red cards the Lancashire has shown this season in what was his 13th game, during which he has also dished out a total of 38 yellows.
Webb has already been in charge of matches involving Watford and Millwall this season – he refereed the Hornets’ 1-1 draw at Birmingham City in August, and was in the middle for the Lions’ 2-1 defeat at Blackburn Rovers at the start of this month.
He is due to be assisted by Nigel Lugg and Mark Stevens at the Den, with Tim Robinson on fourth official duties.
