Cancer patients will benefit from £40,000 raised by 900 runners and children in an annual fun run.
Bindya Kotecha, who is being treated for breast cancer at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre in Northwood, walked the 10k route, which started at Merchant Taylors’ School.
Many people who took part in the Moor Park 10k, which helps pay for essential services at the centre, did so to thank staff for either taking care of themselves or family and friends.
The patient said: “Since my diagnosis of breast cancer and the incredible care I am receiving, all I have wanted to do was raise awareness for this charity.
"I feel that my new mission in life is to get together and make a difference to other people’s lives.”
A total of 43 schools and 32 running clubs took part in the fundraising event.
Runners from Watford Joggers took first, second and third place in the 10K run. The school’s shield winner was Northwood College for Girls, who had more than 100 runners taking part.
The money will fund complementary therapy sessions at the Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre.
