Danny Rose has left Watford by mutual consent after the club reached an agreement on the remainder of his contract.
The defender had been training with former club Spurs at his own request, and played for their Under-21 team in a pre-season friendly.
The 32-year-old had a short spell on loan at Vicarage Road in 2009, when he made seven appearances, and then signed permanently in June last year.
He made his debut in the Carabao Cup win over Crystal Palace in August, and then his first Premier League outing came in the home defeat to Wolves.
Rose stayed in the side until a particularly uncomfortable afternoon as Watford were beaten 5-0 at home by Liverpool in October.
He played three times after that, bringing his first team appearances last season to nine, the last of them being when Manchester City won 3-1 at Vicarage Road on December 4.
