Watford are insistent Joao Pedro is not for sale after Newcastle United had a bid to sign him rejected.
Sky Sports is reporting the Premier League club made a bid of £20million to recruit the Brazilian but the offer was turned down.
The Watford Observer understands an approach was made but the Hornets are adamant one of their most prized assets is not for sale.
The 20-year-old completed his move to Vicarage Road from Fluminense in January 2020 and scored his first goal on his 19th birthday in the 1-0 win over Luton Town in September of that year.
He went on to finish the Championship campaign with nine goals as the Hornets were promoted back to the Premier League, before netting three times in the top-flight last season.
Pedro started this season by scoring the winner in the 1-0 victory over Sheffield United on their opening day of the campaign.
