Rob Edwards is looking forward to locking horns with an international team-mate when Burnley visit Watford in the Championship.
Vincent Kompany is the manager of the Clarets, the former Manchester City and Belgium star having been given the job of guiding the club back to the Premier League in June.
But he has chosen someone very familiar to the Hornets manager as his number two, former Newcastle United and Wales striker Craig Bellamy.
Edwards said: "I was involved in a lot of Wales squads with Craig. He was an outstanding player, one of the team’s best at that time and that team included some proper legends.
"He had a great career and I’ve heard a lot of positive things about him as a coach as well.
"Vincent will be able to lean on him heavily, as he did at Anderlecht.
"He knows the game very well. He is a demanding person but in terms of professionals who do things right and work hard, he was up there with the very best.
"It doesn’t surprise me at all he’s gone into coaching.
"When you are a manager and you’re bringing in staff, you want people who are good and who you can trust.
"Vincent clearly feels Craig is those things.
"It’ll be nice to see him."
Edwards is also keen to get to know the Manchester City legend, someone who impressed him on the pitch and is now starting to catch the eye off the field.
"What a player he was," said the Watford boss. "He is a Premier League legend and a legend in his own country.
"I’ve huge respect for him as a player and as a man, I love the way he talks and what he stands for.
"He seems a really genuine and good person and he has made a really good start to his coaching career.
"He’s wanted to keep Burnley as being difficult to play against but then he wants to put his own stamp on things as well.
"That’s what everyone wants to do when they come to a club.
"He’ll bring a difficult challenge and threat."
Burnley began the year with a draw and win as well, beating Huddersfield Town away 1-0 in the opening game of the season before being held to a 1-1 draw at Turf Moor by Luton Town.
Edwards though is concentrating on his own side rather than what he might expect from the Lancastrians.
He said: "We have a good group and we will be competitive in every game.
"We have some good players but so do Burnley. They have had a big turnover of players but they have recruited well and have a good way about them. I like what they do.
"Our focus though is on ourselves and we’ll have a game plan for the game.
"Where we’re going to be at the end of the season I don’t know, and we’ve had to answer that every game because we’ve played Sheffield United and West Brom and people say they are going to be up there as well.
"There are a lot of good teams in this league."
And while he goes into the game mindful of the speculation regarding his talented front-line, he is doing his level best to ignore it.
Edwards said: "We'll do the same as we have done through the whole of the transfer window and since we started.
"We are well aware that we have some very good players in the building and I’m well aware that there will be some interest.
"But I’m just going to go about my business in exactly the same way
"What I will do [against Burnley] is pick a team that I’m convinced is fully focused and ready and will compete."
