Watford manager Rob Edwards felt his side had earned the luck that came their way in the draw at West Bromwich Albion.
Ismaila Sarr had put them in front with a wonder goal on 12 minutes and could have won it late in the second half but saw his penalty saved by David Button.
West Brom's equaliser in the 1-1 draw came in injury time at the end of the first half and they dominated throughout, with a combination of poor finishing and good saves from Dan Bachmann keeping them out.
And the Hornets boss felt that was deserved.
Speaking on Sky Sports he said: "I can’t say I enjoyed it. What I did enjoy was the heart and the fight we showed, especially in the second half.
"We couldn’t keep the ball long enough, we couldn’t find a rhythm and West Brom were the better team.
"Maybe there was a bit of a luck but we earned that luck to get a point in a very difficult place."
He waxed lyrically about his striker's superb goal, scored from inside his own half after taking a touch and spotting Button off his line.
Edwards said: "I’ve not seen [him do that] yet on the training ground but I‘m not surprised because he is super talented.
"When he started lining it up I thought ‘here we go’ but as soon as it left his foot it was in and it was an amazing goal.
"That’s down to Ismaila and his quality and being able to see it.
"It was just a moment of genius really."
And there was no concern about the penalty miss.
The boss said: "I’m sure he’s disappointed but he’s incredible and a big reason why we got a point.
"He’s scored a goal from nothing and he was brave enough to step up and take the penalty.
"It didn’t go in but we probably didn’t deserve it.
"We’ve got a lot of people to be proud of and he is one of them."
Steve Bruce admitted he was left a little bit in awe of the finish.
The West Brom manager said: "I was probably like everyone else in the ground. Do you applaud it or are you looking at the goalkeeper and thinking where were you?
"It’s a wonderful piece of skill by a very good player. He’s looked to see where my goalkeeper is and he has executed it.
"The way we responded was the main thing and I’m pleased for my goalkeeper. It wasn’t easy for him but he didn’t panic and at the end of the day he has saved a penalty which has given us a point at least."
And the Baggies man was delighted with the performance of his players if not the result.
He said: "Your performance is most important at the start of the season and I couldn’t have wished for a better performance from them.
"We were excellent from start to finish and sometimes in football you don’t get what you deserve.
"On another night we could have won by two or three."
