Euro football fever was high in Watford on Friday as a flag was raised ahead of the women’s final this weekend.
England legend Kelly Smith, who was born in Watford, was joined by players from the town’s professional women’s team and the potential next generation of Lionesses outside the town hall.
The flag was raised in honour of England’s women’s team, who have made it to the UEFA Women’s Euro Final. They will face Germany at Wembley Stadium at 5pm on Sunday.

Watford mayor Peter Taylor, who joined in with the event this morning, said: “My family has loved watching England’s success in the Euros. I know that our town and country could not be prouder of our Lionesses and all they have achieved so far.
“The England team has done so much to bring women’s football into its well-deserved place in the spotlight. I hope everyone tunes in on Sunday to show their support and to cheer on this fantastic team.”
