Former Watford captain Moussa Sissoko is expected to complete a £1million move to Nantes today – but there will be no buy-back clause in the deal despite reports to the contrary.
The 32-year-old French international joined the Hornets from Spurs a year ago, but exercised a clause in his contract upon relegation which enabled him to leave should he find another club.
The transfer to Nantes is a flat £1m with no clauses, and in particular there is no arrangement that Watford would have the right to buy him back should they go back up to the Premier League.
It's understood Sissoko turned down other moves in favour of moving to Nantes because Watford received a transfer fee.
Meanwhile, the club look set for a windfall as Richarlison is expected to move to Tottenham from Everton.
The Brazilian is reported to be commanding a £60m fee, and that would realise a £2m payment to Watford who are due 10 per cent of anything over the £40m they received from Everton for him in 2018.
There have been suggestions the sell-on agreement was 10 per cent of the full fee, but the Watford Observer is assured the 10 per cent on profit is correct.
Another ex-Hornet could also be on the way to North London with a sell-on fee, though Watford may not receive any extra money simply because they got such a good price in the first place.
Pervis Estupinan has been suggested as another target for Tottenham but, having sold the 24-year-old to Villareal for €16m, the Hornets would only receive 20 per cent of anything the Spanish club receives above that figure.
