A golf course is launching an academy aimed at beginners and junior players, utilising a simple and easy to follow series of programmes.
Rickmansworth Golf Course, managed by Everyone Active in partnership with Three Rivers District Council, will be launching the programme in conjunction with the UK’s first six-hole soft ball golf course. This one-of-a-kind course will ensure an easy transition for new golfers from six-hole, onto nine-hole soft ball, to eventually tackling the facility’s 18 hole par 65 course.
The eight-week programme will be run in partnership with Colour Path Golf, which uses the language of colour to learn golf skills. The new Colour Path Golf Academy will also run a five level junior program packed full of fun games, drills and skills challenges.
To celebrate the launch, Everyone Active will be hosting a free family open day on Saturday (June 11) from 10am to 3pm. There will be fun challenges and free golf tuition using the Colour Path Golf technique.
Visitors will also get the chance to take part in other free activities such as Footgolf and pitch and putt, and can try the new six-hole soft ball course which is ideal for families. A raffle will also be held in aid of Macmillan, Everyone Active’s partnered charity, and there will be golf simulator challenges with prizes on offer.
John Sewell, Everyone Active’s area contract manager, said: “We’re very excited to start a partnership with Colour Path Golf which will see them introducing their new idea and creation of the UK’s first Soft Play Golf course concept and academy, that will give our membership and guests a complete pathway into the game.
“The Colour Path Golf method is a fast track learning concept, great for those who are just starting out in golf and want to learn the ropes quickly whilst also having a fun and enjoyable learning experience. Plus, there is also the opportunity to get trained up to become a certified golf instructor.
“Our open day will be great fun for the whole family and also gives visitors a taster of our new offering to get involved in golf and learn some new skills.”
John Glenn, Colour Path Golf co-founder and operations director, said: “We believe that our partnership will be breaking the traditional way that golf has been introduced and typically been taught, as our interactive externally focused teaching concept has proven that there is a real gap in the market to develop a completely fresh new approach to learning the game of golf in new environments that is so simple, easy and effective to understand for all ages and abilities.
“We look forward to showcasing our offering with the plan of opening further Colour Path Golf Academies within the Everyone Active Portfolio of facilities.”
Visitors are encouraged to bring their own equipment to the open day to avoid limits in supplies.
