Watford are early favourites with the bookies to win the Championship in the 2022/23 season.
The Hornets have another tough season in the second tier to prepare for after a turgid campaign of Premier League football saw them drop into the Championship after their first season back in the top flight.
However, bookmakers are backing them to overcome the difficulties they faced during the recently concluded season and shoot straight back up as champions.
Currently, betting aggregator Oddschecker shows that odds as low as 13/2 on Watford winning the Championship can be found, while other bookies are offering odds of 7/1.
However, odds on them being promoted automatically are shorter still, with a top two finish sufficient for Rob Edwards' men to gain promotion. Odds of 9/4 on an automatic return to the top flight can be found online.
Elsewhere, for those less optimistic about the club's chances of a first or second place finish, odds of 10/11 can be found for anyone who thinks that a top six finish is within the Hornets' reach.
Last time they dropped down to the Championship, Watford finished in second place, behind Norwich City, who have also been relegated from the Premier League this season.
The Canaries are second favourites to win the league, with odds of 7/1 at some bookmakers.
West Bromwich Albion are in third place with odds of 9/1, while Sheffield United, Burnley and Middlesbrough complete the favourites for the top six.
