Watford have published a list of players to have been released from their academy, including some prospects who had made first team appearances.
Maurizio Pochettino, son of PSG manager Mauricio, is one of the names on the list to have played senior football for the Hornets, after he was handed his debut by Xisco Munoz is a 2-0 defeat at Brentford in the Championship.
The son of another former footballer, Henry Wise, son of Dennis, has also been released. He made his senior debut in the FA Cup defeat away at Tranmere Rovers in the 2019/20 relegation season. The 22-year-old will now have to find a new club.
Derek Agyakwa featured twice for the first team in the league cup during the 2020/21 campaign, but will no longer be able to after he too was released, along with Ryan Cassidy, who had once been hailed as a player for the future.
The full list of under-23s to have been released is as follows: Derek Agyakwa, Dante Baptiste, Jack Broome, Jack Burchell, Ryan Cassidy, Jimiel Chikukwa, Kamil Conteh, Kane Crichlow, Jordan Harrison, Dominic Hutchinson, Andi Janjeva, George Langston, Kyrell Lisbie, Kyreece Lisbie, Josh O’Brien, Adam Parkes, Dan Phillips, Maurizio Pochettino and Henry Wise.
Additionally, the following four under-18 players will leave the club at the end of their scholarships: Will Hall, Freddie Moriarty, Enoch Muwonge and Ben Smith.
It was not all bad news for Watford academy players however, with professional deals offered to Shaq Forde, alongside 17-year-old defender Ryan Andrews and 18-year-old midfielder Adian Manning.
Alfie Marriott, Damani Hunter, Myles Roberts and Sonny Blu Lo-Everton have also been offered new contracts.
