Watford will learn of their Championship schedule next month, if they are relegated, with EFL league fixtures being announced on Thursday, June 23.

The Hornets' drop from the Premier League was all but confirmed with Saturday's home collapse to Burnley and the club is now preparing for a busy summer of making sure their team is ready to compete in the second tier.

That means they will have to be active in the summer transfer window, with several players expected to depart to help fund a promotion push for next season.

The window will open on Friday, June 10 and will run until 11pm on Thursday, September 1.

Any business will have to be conducted quickly in order for new arrivals to make an impact, with the league starting earlier this summer to accommodate the winter World Cup in Qatar.

The Championship will start on July 30, but will take a break from November 12 until December 10 to allow teams to be less affected by the loss of international players.

The regular season will finish on May 6, while the Championship play-off final will be held on Monday, May 29.
