And so the utter folly of sacking Xisco Munoz has been proved as yet again the replacement manager has failed to get the needed improvement and results.
I have said in your columns time and time again that there can be no consistency in a squad in any sport if the management is continually changed and the new manager is deemed to be under pressure from day one.
To be fair, the squad has had its problems in terms of losing key players to injury and the Africa Cup of Nations, but the big difference between the two teams in the Norwich game was the fact that Norwich played as a tight group and each player was playing for the team and each other, whereas Watford were by the second half just a group of individuals who seemed to hardly know each other and in the end lacked any motivation, belief or desire to represent the club.
So what happens now? Watford are second bottom in the league and in their next game face a daunting away game at Burnley, who managed to get a surprise draw against Arsenal on Sunday.
True to form, Ranieri has of course been sacked, and as always the board will have someone else lined up to replace him.
However, my message to the board is that this group of players might not save the club from relegation, and so whilst wishing the new manager well, hope that for once on their watch, this will be the last time we see the madness of yet another replacement manager in a desperate and probably fruitless effort to keep the club in the Premier League.
