A memorial area is set to be created for football fans who want their ashes to be scattered close to Watford's stadium.
The plaques part made with ashes will be fixed within Vicarage Road Cemetery meaning the final resting place of deceased fans can be just yards from a place that meant so much to them.
Watford Borough Council has been working with Watford Football Club since 2018 to find a suitable place for ashes to be scattered with the Hornets no longer able to scatter ashes within the football ground in Vicarage Road.
Watford FC chaplain Clive Ross said in 2018 that he wanted to create a "permanent, personal and tangible" memorial for fans and so instead of scattering the ashes in the stadium, it was suggested the ashes could be made into a plaque using clay, with plinths set to be constructed in the cemetery.
Along with Mr Ross, the council has been working with a local memorial company and funeral director to develop the proposals which now look set to become a reality.
The council wants to invest £42,000 in the project as part of its 2022/23 financial budget, according to documents published ahead of a full council meeting on January 24.
