Watford’s Sienna Jetha justified her top seeding as she became a double gold medallist at the Mark Bates Ltd U10-U13 National table tennis Championships.
Jetha was competing in the under-12 and under-13 girls’ singles, and was in dominant form as she looked to add to the under-10 girls’ title she won in 2019, the last time these championships were held.
The first gold came in the under-13 event on day one of the competition, which was held under covid protocols at the University of Warwick.
Jetha did not drop a set all day, culminating in a 3-0 (11-9, 11-4, 11-4) victory over third seed Naomi Coker in the final.
In the under-12s, Jetha also did not drop a set on her way to the final, but she went behind to second seed Brooke Morris before recovering to post a 3-1 (7-11, 11-8, 11-7, 11-7) victory to claim her second title.
After the second final Jetha said: “Before the final, I was feeling scared a bit and I didn’t play my best. I felt I had to prove myself, that I deserved to be number one.”
