Watford are interested in signing midfielder Matthew Longstaff on loan from Newcastle United.
The Hornets have rekindled their interest in the 20-year-old, who they considered making a move for last summer before the player signed a new deal on Tyneside.
While Newcastle are open to the possibility of Longstaff heading out temporarily, it is understood they first want to bring in one, or possibly even two, of their own loan targets before they continue any discussions.
The Magpies are currently discussing moves for Leicester City's Hamza Choudhury, Celtic's Olivier Ntcham and Arsenal's Joe Willock.
The Hornets are happy to remain patient regarding the deal, having already brought in Dan Gosling from Bournemouth on a two-and-a-half-year deal earlier today.
