Kiko Femenia could be set to leave Watford and join Spartak Moscow, first on loan and then permanently, the Watford Observer understands.
Despite the international transfer deadline passing in England on Friday, Russia's international transfer window does not close until October 17, meaning a deal could still go ahead.
The two clubs are currently discussing the potential transfer, which is understood to be a loan with an obligation to buy.
Nothing has been agreed yet, but talks are believed to have been positive up to this point and the player is interested in making the switch.
Femenia was linked with a number of Spanish clubs throughout the transfer window, including Valencia where former Watford head coach Javi Gracia was keen to link up with the full-back.
