Christian Kabasele is set to hold talks with Watford over his future before a decision is made on whether he will remain with the club.

The defender is understood to want to speak to the Hornets before listening to approaches, with other sides already registering an interest in the Belgian.

Players are expected to return to the training ground sometime next week with the season starting just three weeks after that, giving the club a brief window to undergo some preparations ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Part of those preparations will involve talks with players, like Kabasele and others, to determine who will be staying and who will be departing out of the current crop.

A number of the club's high earning assets have already been put into the spotlight, with record signing Ismaila Sarr known to be of interest to Liverpool, Crystal Palace and Wolverhampton Wanderers. Reports of a link with Tottenham are not believed to be accurate at this stage.

The Hornets are thought to be expecting a fee of at least £40million for the Senegal international, who scored six times in his first season at Vicarage Road, with the club not financially in a position where they need to shift their prize assets.

Elsewhere, Gerard Deulofeu has drawn interest from Valencia and former head coach Javi Gracia, who are now in a better financial position than before, having sold Ferran Torres to Manchester City. Full-back Kiko Femenia is also understood to be on their radar.

Meanwhile, issues relating to three highly-rated players who spent last season out-on-loan continue, with the future of Luis Suarez, Pervis Estupinan and Cucho Hernandez yet to be decided.

An extension to Suarez's loan was denied by Watford who would like to have the striker for next season. However, the Colombian does have interest from clubs in La Liga and may wish to continue his development back in Spain. The 22-year-old is currently on vacation so any news is not expected imminently.

Estupinan and Hernandez were both targets for Osasuna, who are understood to have given up their chase for former. However, they remain interested in Hernandez, as are other clubs in the Spanish top flight.

Work permit issues for both Hernandez and Estupinan could prevent them from playing for the Hornets at the beginning of next season.

Also in need of sorting out is the situation with the club's vacant head coach position, with a decision still yet to be made following approaches to at least two candidates, Vladimir Ivic and Gerhard Struber.

Chris Hughton is also thought to be of interest due to his experience of promoting teams from the Championship.
