The Premier League will have to aim for a mid-May restart in order to finish in time for the end of June, according to La Liga president Javier Tebas.
The coronavirus pandemic has caused leagues throughout Europe to postpone action temporarily, with the Premier League agreeing on Thursday to suspend action until at least April 30.
However UEFA has set a deadline of June 30 for all domestic competitions to be completed and Tebas said that all European leagues and competitions should now be aiming for a mid-May resumption.
"There are 30 affected leagues, 30 cup tournaments, and we have to co-ordinate each schedule at both a national and international level," he said in an interview with El Pais.
"In mid-May we should be back with all European competitions. If circumstances permit, we could bring that forward.
"We need to work together."
UEFA's decision to postpone Euro 2020 until next year means there is now more time this summer for leagues to be completed, but Tebas thinks it is still going to be difficult for some nations to have their domestic football completed in time for the deadline.
"We are working with leagues such as Serie A in Italy, who have 14 games still to play, or the Danish league, who have 15 left to play," he said.
"UEFA's decision to postpone Euro 2020 will help us find a way to finish our competitions.
"We knew we could work something out and we're now looking at different restart dates. We have to work in reverse, as it were, looking at the latest date we could start playing to work out other options."
