Watford Ladies will face West Bromwich Albion in the final of the FA Women's National League Plate after beating Middlesbrough 2-0 in the semi-final on Sunday.
Anne Meiwald and Megan Chandler's second-half goals made the difference following a cagey first-half in which Emily Scarr's shot, which was well-saved by Nina Wilson in the Hornets' net, was the only real opportunity.
Things looked to be turning in Boro's favour when Wilson was given her marching orders just before the hour mark for handling outside her own box.
With no reserve keeper on the bench, defender Hattie Kettle had to put the gloves on and finish the game in goal.
Despite being a player light, the Golden Girls started to build pressure on the Middlesbrough defence, with substitute Alysha Stojko-Down making an important contribution.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 73rd minute when Meiwald reacted quickest, after her initial header had come back off the post.
Boro levelled things up shortly after, although not in the way they would have liked, when they too were reduced to ten. Rebekah Bass this time seeing red for her involvement in an incident off-the-ball.
The fate of the game was sealed in the last minute when Chandler made the most of a loose pass from Laura Wareham in the Middlesbrough net to double the Hornets' advantage and send them into the final.
They will challenge West Brom for the plate on Sunday, March 22.
