Dean Austin has apologised to Watford fans as he confirmed he too would be departing the club.
Head coach Quique Sanchez Flores was sacked on Sunday after a 2-1 defeat at Southampton and Austin, his assistant coach, has followed him out the door.
In a tweet on Sunday night, Austin apologised to the supporters via social media for not being able to produce more in the time he and Sanchez Flores were at the club.
He tweeted: "Gutted to be leaving @WatfordFC today. Thank you to everyone connected with the club for having me back and so sorry to the fans and my watford supporter friends that we couldn’t turn it around. Good luck to you all."
Austin was originally a part of Slavisa Jokanovic's team during the club's 2014-15 promotion season, before staying on for Sanchez Flores' first spell with the club.
He returned to Vicarage Road with the Spaniard in September, but will not be part of the next head coach's team.
