Ismaila Sarr has told his Sengal international teammates that he wants to move to Watford, reports claim.
The 21-year-old winger has attracted Premier League interest after an impressive season with Rennes and has been heavily linked with a switch to the Hornets, who reportedly had a €30million bid for the player rejected earlier this summer.
The French side's president, Olivier Letang, has today been quoted as saying the player will be allowed to leave if someone meets the club's valuation, but that that is yet to have happened.
The quotes, published in both L'Equipe and Mercato, read: "With Ismaila there was a kind of gentleman's agreement, but it is necessary that conditions are met.
"As of today, they are not."
Sarr is preparing to face Tunisia in Sunday’s first Africa Cup of Nations semi-final, with a final showdown against either Algeria or Nigeria the reward for the victors.
However, French newspaper L’Equipe has reported that Sarr has told his Senegal teammates that he wants to move to Vicarage Road and that Watford are optimistic of completing a deal, with talks over a potential deal continuing.
The former Metz player, who has also been linked with Arsenal and Newcastle United, scored a total of 12 goals in all competitions for Rennes last season, helping them to a 10th-place finish in Ligue 1.
