Chelsea are reportedly eyeing a move for Roberto Pereyra as they look to find a potential replacement for Eden Hazard.
Pereyra has caught the eye with a string of fine performances for the Hornets and scored five goals for the Vicarage Road club.
Many of those strikes have been spectacular and the former Juventus man’s form has seen him earn a recall to the international stage with Argentina.
The Blues are keen to hold onto their star man, but admiring glances from Spanish giants Real Madrid could well result in Hazard leaving Stamford Bridge.
The Belgian has been sensational for Chelsea this season and has been central to their unbeaten start to the Premier League campaign.
Madrid are known admirers of the 27-year-old and Chelsea are eager to ensure they have found a suitable replacement should he depart.
Hazard will have just 12 months left to run on his contract by next summer and Chelsea may be forced to cash in or risk losing their one their most valuable asset for free.
Pereyra’s time with Juventus, where he helped the Italian giants reach the Champions League final in 2015, is understood to have added to Chelsea’s belief he could thrive at Stamford Bridge.
