Tring Athletic A romped to the West Herts Premier Division title by 14 points, won the West Herts Senior Cup and were Herts FA Junior Cup finalists last season. They got off to a great start to the new campaign by beating Premier Division new boys Langleybury Cricket Club 9-2.
James and Ollie Butler both scored opening-day hat-tricks for Tring, who were in confident mood from beginning to end.
Croxley Community also scored a hatful, winning 8-1 against Caddington, while Hemel Hempstead Rovers gave due notice of their title intentions, scoring five against another new team in the division, Bovingdon A. Adrian Keane and Rhys Stonebank both scored two goals each.
The Engineer Harpenden and Kings Sports battled out a closely-contested game played in a good spirit.
Kings took an early lead and then had to soak up increasing pressure from The Engineer, who finally equalised with 15 minutes to go.
However, Kings sealed the points with a winner against the run of play with just two minutes to go.
Tring Town, who were playing in Spartan South Midlands Division Two last season, have dropped down a few levels having lost much of their first team, but started their Division One campaign well with a 5-3 win against Oxhey A. Among the scorers for Tring was Ryan Sheffras, who grabbed a brace.
Hunton Bridge also got off to a good start recording a 4-1 win over Sun Sports Rovers, despite going in at the break level at 1-1.
Tring Corinthians Reserves won 2-0 against another side relegated from the top flight last season, Harpenden Rovers Reserves, while Global AFC and Hemel Hempstead Rovers Reserves battled out a 1-1 draw.
