Watford have been linked with a move for Liverpool striker Divock Origi, with Liverpool reportedly ready to cash in on the 23-year-old.
Adding options in attack remains a pressing need for Watford and Andre Gray, Troy Deeney and Stefano Okaka are the club’s only current senior options.
Okaka’s future remains uncertain as links to a move away from Vicarage Road persist with the new campaign just around the corner.
With this in mind, Watford are likely to want to add striking alternatives before the window closes and Origi, a player who hasn’t always delivered on his obvious talent, could well fit the bill.
Despite Liverpool’s willingness to sell, a £26 million asking price for a forward who has scored just seven goals on English soil represents somewhat of a stumbling block.
That figure would eclipse Watford’s record outlay of £18.5 million paid for Andre Gray last summer.
The Hornets do have money to spend, however, after the £44 million sale of Richarlison last week and Javi Gracia is eager for those funds to be reinvested in his squad.
Origi spent last season on loan with German outfit Wolfsburg where he scored seven goals in 36 outings.
