Complacency is not a word you could throw at any member of Watford's squad in the early throes of this season, and defender Christian Kabasele may have revealed why.
Only three months after taking the top job at Vicarage Road, head coach Marco Silva has instilled a team spirit and fight for the Golden Boys' shirt which was often lacking under Walter Mazzarri last season.
After each of their four unbeaten Premier League games to date, such qualities have been namechecked by players who clearly buy into his approach.
They have added that Silva has the charisma to give them belief to performa above themselves, but their willingness to fight for the shirt may stem from the fact the players themselves don't know whether they will keep it until only hours before games start.
Often managers will spend the latter stages of a week drilling his starting line-up in how to prepare for that weekend's opposition, and last year Mazzarri had his first-choice team in mind well in advance of a matchday.
That is certainly not the case with Silva, as Kabasele reveals he and his team-mates have been left surprised by the new boss' team sheets already during this campaign, something which keeps them on their toes to impress in training.
He told Belgian radio: "I do not even know if I'm going to play next week, but I'm going back to training on Tuesday.
"[We find out the team] two hours before the match. It is never assured that you will be on the pitch even if during the week in training we see more or less the idea of the coach.
"For example - last weekend there was a team set up and finally he changed a player between Friday's training and Saturday's game. We are never 100 per cent sure."
The prospect Kabasele could be on his way out of Vicarage Road was briefly mooted during the summer, with the 26-year-old's performances in his first season with the club somewhat inconsistent.
Any prospective transfer never followed, though, and now the defender has put in a pair of back-to-back storming performances since returning to the starting line-up, to help the Hornets keep clean sheets in the past two games.
"The leaders were satisfied with the matches I played in last year," he added. "There was no door open for my departure.
"I played in all the pre-season matches which also reinforced the idea that a departure was not going to happen."
