Sebastian Prodl is set to miss out on Watford’s Premier League clash at Liverpool on Sunday due to injury.
The Watford defender has helped Walter Mazzarri’s side keep three consecutive clean sheets but an abductor muscle injury, picked up in last weekend’s win over Hull City, is poised to prevent him from playing at Anfield.
Striker Stefano Okaka is close to returning from his hamstring injury although this weekend’s game may come too soon for the club’s summer signing.
Head coach Mazzarri said: “Unfortunately Prodl has been added to the injury list. I don’t think that he will be able to be available for this weekend but we will see.
“We will also try to get Okaka at the last minute but I don’t want to run the risk of him getting even worse or more injured. We will see at the last minute if he is ready but this is the situation.
“You saw on Saturday he [Prodl] had a muscle problem which is why he was taken off and Christian Kabasele went in. It’s an injury which is not very worrying but cannot be resolved in a matter of one week.”
Forward Isaac Success remains out with a muscle injury but may be able to return to the squad after the international break.
