Udinese are understood to be considering a loan move for Watford defender Christian Kabasele.
The Hornets signed Kabasele last month in a £6m deal from Genk. He signed a five-year contract with the Premier League side but his future at the club is already in doubt.
Kabasele has not been in the squad for the first two league games of the season and Watford also signed defender Younes Kaboul at the end of last week.
It is unclear whether head coach Walter Mazzarri sees Kabasele as part of his first-team plans although the signs do not appear encouraging for the 25-year-old.
Udinese are short on defensive options and the Pozzo-owned Serie A club are believed to be considering a move for either Kabasele or Sebastian Prodl.
Austrian international Prodl has played both matches this season and it seems unlikely the club will allow him to leave but Kabasele could be on the move if Mazzarri is not considering him for the first team.
