WHILE Saracens are battling to reach the end-of-season Premiership play-offs their female counterparts have already cracked open the bubbly after being crowned champions for the second year in succession.
Saracens Women claimed the title in emphatic style on Sunday, winning all 14 games this season in the elite league. They scored 584 points and conceded only 61.
Lee Adamson, Saracens Women's President, said: "Saracens are immensely proud of the achievements of our women's section. Being crowned English Women's Premiership champions for the second year in succession is a testimony to the hard work and commitment of all our coaches, players and administrators.
"The Saracens Women are going from strength to strength - running two senior sides and two junior sides. Our women's development officer is working with local schools and we determined to remain the top women's club in England."
Saracens players include England Women's Six Nations Grand Slam champions Claire Allan, Maggie Alphonsi, Karen Andrew, Charlotte Barras, Rachel Burford and Amy Garnett.
Richmond and Wasps trail Saracens with 52 points each with a game in hand, but with Saracens amassing 64 points in total the Watford club are deserved champions.
