TOMAS ABYU and Liz Yelling broke the men and ladies course records at the annual Asics Watford Half-Marathon on Sunday.
Salford Harrier Abyu crossed the finishing line in 64.50, smashing the previous record of 65.39 set by Watford Harrier Kevin O'Connor back in 1991.
Bedford and County runner Yelling won the ladies race in 73.42, knocking more than two minutes off the previous 76.06 previous record set by another Harrier, Danielle Sanderson in 1993.
Two thousand runners poured over the starting line in Cassiobury Park at 10.30am on a sunny, crisp morning followed by a record number of children in the junior races.
