The Football Supporters’ Federation (FSF) will be marching on both the Premier and Football League headquarters to voice their frustration over the rising cost of match tickets tomorrow (Thursday).

Fans of Premier League and Football League clubs will join members of the FSF by London’s Marble Arch at 1pm before proceeding to both leagues’ offices at 30 Gloucester Place in Marylebone for around 2pm.

A group of fans have also arranged to meet with football authorities while the main delegation will continue their march to The Globe.

FSF spokesman, Michael Brunskill, 33 and from Sunderland, says he is frustrated by the number of regular working-class fans who are being stretched financially in order to support their team by attending matches.

He said: “The money that leagues like the Premiership get is incredible and with that money we would like to see fans’ loyalty rewarded by subsidised or cut ticket prices.

“There is an appetite from fans, who are frustrated by these ticket prices, to march and send a powerful message to the extent that fans will give up their time to have their voices heard.”

The FSF have cited the £20 jump in the price of Hull City’s Category ‘A’ tickets as evidence of their concerns.

According to their findings, tickets in the ‘A’ band rose in price from £30 to £50 between the 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons.

But a spokesman from the Football League says member clubs set their ticket prices in order to cover their outgoings.

He said: “Ticket prices are set by individual clubs based on their extensive understanding of their own fanbase. “In each case, they have to balance the need to offer fans value for money with the need to raise the funds that will give those same fans a competitive team to watch.

“Historically, Football League clubs have done this successfully with the number of people paying to watch our three divisions having more than doubled in the last 30 years from seven million to more than fifteen million in each of the last eleven seasons.

"On the whole, Football League clubs continue to offer good value for money, particularly to season ticket holders with the average lowest priced season ticket being as low as £12 per match in Sky Bet League 2 through to £15 per match in the Sky Bet Championship."

Fans intending to march are encouraged to register their intention to do so in advance by emailing events@fsf.org.uk.
