Watford’s starting XI against Leicester City this afternoon includes a couple of selections which may surprise some supporters.
Fernando Forestieri and Matej Vydra have been rotated for much of this season so with Vydra out of form and starting on Thursday, many expected Forestieri to start the second leg at Vicarage Road this afternoon.
But it is Vydra – without a goal in his last 12 league games – who will partner Troy Deeney, who returns to the XI following suspension.
Fitz Hall is not fit enough to start so he has to settle for a place on the bench once more.
Cristian Battocchio’s selection ahead of Jonathan Hogg in midfield will not surprise many due to Hogg starting on Thursday but Matthew Briggs’ inclusion instead of Daniel Pudil may have raised a few eyebrows.
Leicester are unchanged from the team who won 1-0 in the first leg on Thursday night.
Watford: Almunia; Doyley, Ekstrand, Cassetti; Anya, Abdi, Chalobah, Battocchio, Briggs; Deeney, Vydra.
Subs: Bond, Hall, Pudil, Eustace, Hogg, Geijo, Forestieri.
Leicester: Schmeichel; De Laet, Morgan, Keane, Schlupp; Knockaert, James, King, Dyer; Wood, Nugent.
Subs: Logan, Konchesky, Drinkwater, Marshall, Vardy, Moore, Kane.
