Director of rugby Mark McCall believes whoever wins the Heineken Cup match between Saracens and Munster tomorrow will "gain control of the group".
A 15-9 defeat last weekend leave the Men in Black level on points with Munster at the top of Pool One with three games left to play.
And while the Sarries boss believes there is a chance that the team that finishes second could still qualify as a lucky loser, he insists that is not a situation Saracens want to be relying on.
"Whoever wins this game gains control of the group and that’s a position you want to be in – we want to be in control of our own destiny," McCall said.
"There is the possibility that two teams could emerge from this group if you look at the other groups and how our results have fallen.
"But that leaves you depending on other things so I think both Munster and ourselves would like to gain control of the group and that means winning tomorrow."
Just eight days will separate the double header but McCall insists there haven't been any significant changes to the way the team have prepared this week.
"It doesn’t make much difference to be honest with you - you look at your next opponents on a week to week basis anyway.
"I think the beauty of this competition is that you get these two back to back matches that happen in December every year and down the years there have been some great tussles between the two teams.
"It doesn’t always follow that one team who wins the first week wins the next week and we need to make sure that is the case again this week.
"It’s a game the players are really up for. We're motivated and looking forward to it."
Kick off at Vicarage Road tomorrow is at 3pm.
