Community Plan
What is a Community Plan?
One Watford’s plans for the town’s future are set out in the Community Plan 2006 – 2026 – a document which outlines the partnership’s long-term priorities for Watford.
All local areas are required by the government to have a Community Plan or Strategy – although the duty is on the local authority to produce this plan, Watford’s Community Plan, like most others, was produced jointly by Watford Borough Council and other important organizations in the town, who together are best placed to understand the needs of our residents, employees and students.
In addition, the government requires that community plans should be sustainable – meaning that the plans for the town should it ensure it is a place in which people will want to live, now and in the future, improving the quality of life for all whilst protecting the environment and resources for future generations. The first Community Plan 2003 – 2006 set out a short-term vision for the town, and brought together the main priorities of all the partners involved in Watford’s first Local Strategic Partnership.
