IN response to a request for memories of a firm called Ault and Wiborg, Pat Quick (ne Johnson) of Ashfield Avenue, Bushey, wrote in.
I worked there as a typist/telephonist for a short time in the late 1950's. Ault and Wiborg were printing ink manufacturers, and their office and laboratories were situated in Cow Lane, Garston.
One of A&W's customers were Odhams, who were situated just over the road.
The building still stands, and can be seen form the A41, at the back of Sainsburys.
It now bears the name Sun Chemical.
I believe the name of the manager at the time was a Mr McLaren, with a secretary, Pam. There were approximately seven girls working in the main office, but I can only recall the name of one Ann Moore.
There were several chemists working in the labs.
I am hoping this information will start the ball rolling, and that some of the longer serving members of staff will write in, to remind me of my happy days at A&W, before leaving the country to go to Trinidad.
