The ring road is a constant for those of us who live and work in Watford but plenty has changed on its interior and exterior over the past decade.
Using Google Street View, we’ve taken a look at five different locations around the ring road and the changes that have happened there over the past decade or so.
Scroll through the pictures below and you’ll notice that some of the changes are easily relatable to the developments that continue to this day in the town.
We start our journey at the junction of Clarendon Road in August 2008...
...much looks the same by May 2022 but the bright exterior of the Atria Watford extension now stands out.
The rear entrance to Watford Market in August 2008...
...had made way for the brighter exterior of Next by May of last year.
Plenty of you will recognise this view on the approach to the junction with Water Lane....
...but rewind to September 2009 and the block of flats had yet to be built.
Some structures remain reassauringly unchanged though, like Church car park. Here it is in August 2008...
...and in May 2022.
If you'd have driven a short way further in August 2008 though, you would have been greeted by this all too familiar sight on the Watford sky scape - a crane...
...which was helping construct these.
