A Watford man could be in the frame to win a top modelling contract after being selected to become a regional semi-finalist in the Spectacle Wearer of the Year 2012 competition.

Budding fashion designer Neil Lennon was selected from hundreds of hopefuls. he will strike a pose alongside 11 specs-wearing fashionistas at the semi-final, which will be held in Tottenham Court Road on Tuesday, August 7.

The 25-year-old said: "I’m thrilled to be going to the regional final, I never imagined I would get through. It would be amazing to make it to the final and wave the flag for Watford.

"This competition is an amazing opportunity to show that specs are cool."

If successful, Neil could find himself strutting down the catwalk at the glitzy, star-studded grand final at Battersea Power Station on Tuesday, October 30, hosted by television presenter Gok Wan.

The grand final winner will scoop a 12-month modeling contract with MOT Models and a two-week all-inclusive holiday for two in Barbados, with £250-worth of spending money.

They will also receive a makeover with celebrity hairdresser Andrew Barton, a year’s supply of skincare products, a goody bag including hair and skincare products, a £150 eyecare voucher and the coveted Spectacle Wearer of the Year trophy.

Last year, Specsavers raised more than £20,000 for anti-bullying charity Kidscape, by donating £1 for every eligible entry received in the competition.

All proceeds will help Kidscape continue their valuable work with children and young people.
