Super-cars ranging from classic 1950s American cruisers to showroom-fresh sports coupes lined up in Chorleywood for the village's first ever automobile show.

The event, held in the grounds of Christ Church School on Chorleywood Common took place on Saturday.

More than 100 cars parked up on the grass, including beautiful and valuable Ferraris and Lamborghinis through to vintage Austin 7s and vast 1950 American cruisers.

Classic car collections from DK Engineering and the Weitzmann Collection were also exhibited for spectators to admire.

Organiser Guy Davis, who has owned several classic cars, put the event together for like-minded motor enthusiasts and families.

Mr Davis, who has lived in Chorleywood his entire life, said: "The original idea was to organise a meet for friends and locals, but word spread and the result speaks for itself.

"Most surprising is the number of classic and super cars that reside in Chorleywood and the surrounding area.

"Feedback has been amazing and there is clear demand for the event to run again, it was a real team effort."

In total 350 people attended the car show during the course of the day, making the most of the summer sun. There was also a barbecue, licensed bar and a tea room.

One of the exhibitors, DK Engineering, based in Green Street, sells, restores and services prestige vehicles.

The company brought along two Ferrari Enzos, an F40, and 512 BB, as well as a Porche 911 2.8 RSR to the car show.

James Cottingham, from DK Engineering, said: "It was a really nice event, very family orientated and a lovely atmosphere.

"There are a lot of people who don't own classic cars but are interested in them so it's a nice way to experience them."

Christ Church School and Help for Heroes will share the £4411.50 raised at the show.
