A pensioner was left with facial injuries after his Carpenders Park home was burgled.

Police said two men gain access to the house in Delta Gain at around 12.45pm on Thursday by claiming to be workmen and asked the victim for money.

Officers said the victim, who is in his 70s, was then detained while his home was searched.

The suspects wanted in connection with the aggravated burglary are described as two white men.

Detective Inspector Kay Lancaster said: "We’re working to establish the exact circumstances of this incident and what items were stolen.

"I would like to appeal to anyone who was in the area around Delta Gain at the time of this incident to make contact with police.

"Did you see two men acting suspiciously in the area or running from the scene? Or did you see any suspicious vehicles? Any information could prove vital to the investigation."
