A serious crash on a main road in Oxhey this week has led to renewed calls for action to be taken to reduce accidents.

One person was taken to hospital following the accident on Hampermill Lane, near the junction with Hillcroft Crescent, at around 6pm on Tuesday night.

The injuries were said to not be life threatening.

The crash involved a Ford KA, an Audi A3 and a motorbike.

The latest accident comes after two serious crashes along the road in June last year and there have been two fatalities on the road since 2007.

Since last June residents living near the road and the Oxhey Hall Residents' Association have been lobbying for action to be taken to cut accidents on the road.

After last year’s crashes Hertfordshire County Council had new white lines and markings added to the road to encourage drivers to slow down.

Ian Drury, a resident of Hillcroft Crescent, said the latest crash highlighted that more needed to be done to the road.

He said: “The residents desperately want more to be done to curb the speeding as this is an unacceptable number of accidents.”

A spokesman for Hertfordshire County Council said because Hampermill Lane was an A road speed calming measures such as speed bumps could not be considered.
