The Chorleywood Women's Royal Volunteering Service celebrated 50 years of preparing and delivering "meals on wheels" to residents around the town.

The food delivery service ensures people who are unable to leave the house or cook for themselves are able to eat a hot meal.

Members past and present gathered at The Junction in Chorleywood Road on Friday to celebrate the golden anniversary of the service.

More than 100 volunteers enjoyed meeting old friends over a buffet lunch to celebrate the event.

Founder member Gerda Craven, who regularly delivers meals, was there to present long service medals to Barbara Christie and Cynthia Lloyd, as well as a clasp [for extra-long service] to local organiser Vivien Culling.
