The West Herts branch of Parkinson's UK was presented with a cheque for £140 from students at St Clement Dane's School.

The cheque was handed over at the club's July meeting by Year 8 students of the Chorleywood school.

They had supported the charity as part of their "personal development" course at school by baking and selling cakes.

Geoff Emery, from the club, said: "They had also made cakes for us all to eat with our end-of-meeting cups of tea and helped serve them and clear up afterwards.

"They have collected more than 500 books which we hope to sell at car boot sales. It was lovely to have them with us and we are very grateful for their efforts."

The next branch meeting will be on Thursday, August 2, at 7.30pm in St Thomas' Church Hall, Langley Road, Watford.

Maureen Bates will give a presentation on Holland and the Keukenhof Gardens.
